Festive Pairings

The Holidays are rapidly approaching. Whether you’re hosting a holiday party or you'll be a guest unsure what to bring, these suggestions have you covered.

What wine should you bring to your next holiday dinner? I get asked this every year. A bottle of wine is always a nice low-maintenance yet high-quality gesture.

Start with a Spritz

Kicking off your holiday party is best to keep things light. Save your heavy reds, what I call “palate killers,” for later. Avoid the heavy, complex flavors, as they can be too strong on the palate early in the evening. Since these light beverages are so easy on the palate, you’ll have several food choices to pair them with.

Champagne — If you are celebrating a special occasion, whether it be having your family and friends all together or the holiday itself, why not start with Champagne? I recommend Nicolas Feuillatte Blue Label Brut Reserve. I’ve tried all the big names, from Crystal to Dom, and I still prefer Nicolas Feuillatte at half the price! Ideal pairings are appetizers that include lobster, oysters, duck, or even mini chicken skewers.
